Hello and welcome,

THANK YOU so much to those who managed with so little notice to join me for the Yoga Nidra in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society – the recording is available if you’d like to try it. The class was part of a wider fundraising day “Stress Less for MS” that my niece, Kirstin, is running in memory of her dad, David Wiggins. I will be recording another class for this event – it will be a 30 minute class that can be practiced when you can’t get to class or you have less time. As with the yoga nidra this class will be available live and as a recording – donation based – details to follow.

Our next Restorative class is on Tuesday 30th May “Down in the Back” and our extended Yin class with massage, also focusing of good back health, is on the 7th June – both now open for booking.

Belgrave Hall Wellness Festival – 8th and 9th July – I’ll be running classes fro 11am to 4pm on both days – details to follow soon.

Our focus this week is “Seat of the Soul”. We know that holding a steady gaze helps us to hold a steady posture. It is also your perspective, what you look for, what grabs your attention. If you focus on what’s wrong with yourself, with your practice, or with those around you, that will colour your experience. if you focus on aooreciating the good, your interior experience will shift. A deeper level of yoga is learning to command your perspective.

Shine well sweet souls.
Namaste,
Kim Xx

YOGA NEWS W/C 22nd May
BLOCK 3, 2023 – VASANTA 6 – Seat of the Soul

Perceive, Command

ON OUR MATS: The attitude you bring to your mat will shape your poses. We give too much power to the poses to change us and too little power to ourselves to change the poses. This week before you practice asana, do something you really love: bake a cake, sing, dance, play. Notice how it affects your joy. Then take this joy to the mat, and watch what happens to your practice.

LIVING OUR YOGA: The mind is not a thing; what you think will change. The mind reflects how everything changes. Think back to how your opinion on any number of things has changed. Practice this mantra for daily living: Everything changes. This will give you some freedom from the tyranny of your thoughts

Nurturing the light within 🧘🏼‍♀️
Kim Woods Yoga @ Studio Bhāvanā (भावना)

Bhāvanā (bha-vana) loosely translates to “cultivate.” This earthy word reminds us that for any plant to grow well, the health of the soil is most important. So we must look to nourish and nurture the soil (our minds & bodies) to provide an environment that will benefit us spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally. To cultivate, you must pull out the weeds (aka the most persistent, deeply ingrained ways of being and thinking) and plant the ways of being that you want to bring into your life. That’s when you can begin to sow love, kindness, joy, happiness, humility, gratitude, and peace.
