Safely navigate your way into the king of poses. Improving strength, stamina & posture
With Kim Woods
There’s nothing like going upside down to see and experience the world differently. Practicing something challenging like headstand and gaining confidence over time can also be very empowering. And it can change your perspective on what other challenging things in your life you might be able to do. It’s fun too!
Headstand is an energising inversion that strengthens the entire body, particularly the upper body and the core. Other benefits of headstand include improved blood and lymph circulation, stronger lungs, toned abdominal organs, good eye health, improved hair growth, better digestion, and relief from menopause symptoms.
To receive the full benefits of any posture, it is a good idea to be able to maintain and stay with ease in the given posture. In this workshop we will prepare the body to practice headstand. You’ll learn the different techniques for limbering up and strengthening, before easing your way into variations that at first don’t put load on the head and neck. We’ll then gradually work up to the full expression of the posture when appropriate.
Don’t worry if you cannot do a headstand or find inversions daunting – Kim will explain the pose in detail and offer different options from beginner to more advanced. There will be something for everyone to practice here.
